The full size SUV segment in India forms a very small part of the overall market share, but is a very attractive segment indeed and few manufacturers who have had a lot of experience in this segment stick to it loyally. The Ford Endeavour was one of the first SUV’s in the segment and enjoyed its supremacy in the segment, but only till the Fortuner came along. The Toyota Fortuner is currently the king of the hill in this segment, and the bosses over at Ford aren’t too happy about it.
Ford took the wise decision of bringing the new Endeavour to India and we are now almost nearing the launch. The Ford Endeavour has been spotted testing, and we also have previously seen spy-shots of it in its flesh without any camouflage on.
Here, we have more spy-pictures of the next-gen Ford Endeavour, which by the looks of it, was spotted at the ARAI facility and this has given us more information about the upcoming Ford Endeavour. This set of spy-shots has revealed the interiors as well.
It was the 2.2 liter turbo-diesel variant that was spotted this time around and both, the manual gearbox equipped car as well as the automatic gearbox equipped car were spotted, parked next to each other. The spy-shots of the interior reveal the terrain response system module present even on the variant with the manual transmission.
This combination of turbo-diesel engine + manual transmission + 4 wheel drive seems to be targeted directly at the Toyota Fortuner 4-wheel drive with manual transmission, and we estimate this variant to priced just a tad cheaper than the equivalent Fortuner, but would be slightly better, because the Fortuner sports a 5-speed manual transmission while the Endeavour will get a 6-speed manual transmission.
Expected to be launched by the end of this year, the new Ford Endeavour, once launched will compete directly with rivals like the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Ssangyong Rexton etc.
