Nissan have unveiled their much-awaited mid-size SUV, the Kicks for India. It was unveiled in a ceremony held by the automaker in Mumbai on Thursday. Nissan will be launching the Kicks here in January 2019.
The Kicks shares its platform with the Renault Captur, and is measured at 4,384 mm in length, 1,656 mm in height and 1,813 mm in width. It’s wheelbase is the same as the Captur, which stands at 2,673 mm. Looking at its design, it seems obvious that the Kicks will grab some eyeballs at the time of its launch.
Features include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-tone colour scheme, roof-rails and projector headlamps. The interior will have an 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multi-functional steering wheel, 360 degree rear camera, digital instrument cluster and so on. Coming to its safety, the Kicks will be having dual airbags, ABS with EBD, hill assist control, ESP and traction control.
The Kicks will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options. There will be a 1.6-litre petrol motor producing 105 BHP of power. On the other hand, a 1.5-litre diesel engine is present, delivering 110 BHP of power.
We can expect the prices for the Kicks to start from Rs. 13 lakh and go all the way to Rs. 20 lakh for the top trims. Rivals for the Kicks include the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and the upcoming Tata Harrier and Kia Trazor. It remains be see, if the Kicks can fulfill the high expectations laid on it by Nissan when it gets launched.
