Honda has launched the second generation of its compact sedan, the Amaze recently. The car is launched at an introductory price of Rs. 5.59 lakh (ex-showroom India). Dealers have started to accept bookings for the next-gen Amaze throughout the country.
Deliveries are expected to start soon in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the Honda Amaze is offered in as many as 12 variants which are across 4 trim levels. The Amaze is based on an all new platform which will spawn future models from Honda.
Honda offers both petrol and diesel engines for the Amaze. Engines include a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol motor capable of producing 90 BHP of power and 110 Nm of torque. The other one will be a 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel motor which produces 100 BHP of power and 200 Nm of torque.
A significant change seen in the new Amaze is the addition of an all new CVT transmission in both the petrol and diesel versions. The CVT unit will deliver 80 bhp of power and 160 Nm of torque. Honda will offer the CVT variant as an option, with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.
As far as prices are concerned, the Honda Amaze will come at a starting price of Rs. 5.60 lakh and go all the way to Rs. 8.68 lakh for the top-notch variant. Rivals include the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Tata Tigor Ford Aspire and the Volkswagen Ameo. With the launch of the new Amaze, it remains to be seen whether the car can grab some market share from the segment best-selling, the Dzire.
