Volkswagen Motorsport India unveiled the Ameo race car, which will take part in the Ameo Cup in second-half of this year. The racecar produces a manic 205 PS and is scarily fast, who’s engine has been developed in-house.
Unlike its practical and nimble sibling, the racecars sports many graphics (stickers) and runs on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with tyres specifically developed for this car by MRF. The engine will be a turbocharged 1.8 TSI as seen on the Polo GTI. It is mated to a 6-speed sequential gearbox with steering-mounted paddle shifters, which helps the car in quick gear changes.
The Ameo Cup race car also runs a whole new suspension setup, which includes a McPherson strut with 2-way adjustable KW dampers at the front and a torsional beam axle with 2-way adjustable KW dampers at the rear, and gets a big black spoiler for improved aerodynamics.
The racecar is the first wholly built machine at the race workshop at the company’s Pune plant. Actually, the car will be 4.6 seconds quicker than the normal stock version. Stopping power are handled by 334 mm ventilated discs at the front and 232 mm discs at the rear, supplemented by Racing ABS and also gets new racing brake pads for a better bite.
When the Ameo Cup starts in June-2017, expect some fireworks from drivers revving hard to give the car a push. The seats and seat belts are from OMP racing and fire suppression approved SPA On board extinguisher will be present as well.
