Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has launched its premium & global sedan – The New 2017 Corolla Altis facelift in India at prices starting from Rs. 15.88 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The ubiquitous C-segment sedan gains a new look and massively improved standard safety kit.

Exterior-wise, there’s a redesigned front end – reshaped headlights flank a slimmer grille, with a thicker chrome trim. The front bumper has also been reprofiled and gets a wider air intake for a more aggressive look. Meanwhile, the rear of the car receives new LED tail light graphics and a thinner chrome rear garnish.
Inside, the Corolla Altis gains a mildly-restyled dashboard with round corner air vents, a new centre console and new air-con controls. The multifunction controls on the steering wheel have also been revised, while the instrument cluster has been given new graphics.
The quality of the interior space is created by the newly designed Instrument Panel with Soft Touch Dashboard and the refreshed Flaxen interior colour.
A 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system is offered as standard on the petrol model but is available as an option on the diesel and it now features MirrorLink connectivity. On the safety front, the top petrol trim features 7-airbags (including one for the driver’s knees) along Vehicle Stability Control and Hill Start Assist. 5-airbags and ABS with EBD are offered as standard on the other petrol trims, while the diesel only gets 3-airbags across the range.
No changes to the running gear, which means that the 1.8-litre petrol motor (140 PS/173 Nm) and the 1.4- litre diesel mill (88 PS/205 Nm) engines continue to power the Altis. The petrol engine can be opted for with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox with paddle shifts and Sport mode, while the diesel is available with a 6-speed manual transmission only.
The new Corolla Altis is equipped with a range of safety features including Hill start Assist control, 7 SRS Airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, ABS with EBD and brake assist reiterating Toyota’s commitment to safety.
The revised pricing positions the Corolla above its direct rival, the Hyundai Elantra which is priced starting from Rs 12.99 lakh. The C-segment is expected to get hotter in coming days with the launch of new models in the form of the facelifted Octavia and the return of the iconic Honda Civic.
