The Passion Pro was updated a week ago with revolutionary i3S technology, and now it is the turn of the Super Splendor to receive the same.
Bookings for the new Super Splendor iSmart (i3S) has already begun at all the Hero dealerships and also on their official website.
Although the new Super Splendor with i3s technology was spied wayback in 2015, the company launched the new Super Splendor iSmart (i3S) today. The reason for project delay by 2 years are unknown, may be to comply with BS4 emission norms (from 1st April 2017) or the upcoming end of Hero’s limit of using Honda’s technology, or both.
The major change on the new Super Splendor is in the engine and the inclusion of the i3s (start-stop system). The same horizontally mounted 124.7 cc engine is now BS-IV compliant. There has been no change in the power figures and the bike continues to generate 9.12 PS of peak power at 7000 rpm and 10.35 Nm of maximum torque at 4000 rpm. This motor is mated to a four-speed gearbox.
However, it is surprising to note that the younger sibling Splendor 110 iSmart produces higher power of 9.5 PS from the new 109.15 cc indigenous-developed engine. Priced at Rs. 55,272, the 2017 Super Splendor i3S available in single ‘SELF START DRUM BRAKE ALLOY WHEEL’ variant, while its smaller sibling to is priced dangerously close to Rs. 54,080 (all prices ex-showroom, New Delhi).
Design-wise it gets a new i3S badge on the rear side fenderl, the overall design of the 2017 Super Splendor iSmart (i3S) remains unchanged. Available in a total of five paint shades – Black with Electric Purple, Black with Fiery Red, Vibrant Blue, Candy Blazing Red and Graphite Black. Hero has discontinued the Cloud Silver and Heavy Grey colour from the palette.
