There is more to come from Bajaj’s Auto division, with these leaked patent images from GaadiWaadi.com pointing towards a vehicle that is closer to a production unit than a concept.
Prototype scooters already reported outside Bajaj Auto’s facility in Pune
What is likely to be called the Chetak (former brand) appears to have a retro styling with upright handle bar for relaxed city as well as long rides. Also telling is the presence of a modern suspension components, brakes and a new engine, about 125-150cc.
Expected it to be launched sometime next-year, this is Bajaj’s third attempt into the India’s modern scooter market, after the failure of the Kristal DTS-i in 2007. Once launched, the 2017 Chetak will compete with the Vespa range and the recently launched Aprilia SR150.
