EICMA 2014 was when majority of the juggernauts in the two-wheeler arena showcased their offerings and what they had in the works. The YZF R1 which happens to be the leader of the litre-class arena broke cover in its next generation guise at the event. The R1 and R1M were the centre of attraction at the Yamaha stall and now the prices of the two weren’t released then. Well, today we have for you the India-specific prices of the R1 as well as the R1 M.
The 2015 YZF R1 will be priced at Rs 24 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi) while the YZF R1M will cost Rs 32 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The former will be made available in Blue and Red colours while the latter will be made available only in the White bluish metallic colour. The bike will be launched in January 2015 and the prices might see a slight revision. The deliveries will commence in June 2015.
The price sees quite a major northward revision as the outgoing model costs Rs 15.5 lakhs. The R1 tips the scales at 199 kgs and has a power output of 200 PS. It borrows a lot of technology from MotoGP. As far as the tech part is concerned, you get braking sensitive Traction Control, Slide Control, Front Lift Control, Quick shifter, Launch Control, ABS and a Unified Brake System.
A 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) is present on it as well which helps the bike to understand the lean and direction of momentum for achieving accurate assessment of power which is required. It also gets inputs from traction control. The performance centric R1M further gets Öhlins Electronic Racing Suspension, Bridgestone tyres which are meant specially for it and Communication Control Unit (CCU) with GPS to round off the package. The R1M owners will also get a chance to be a part of special Yamaha Racing Events.
