SPYSHOTS: Maruti Ertiga facelift captured testing, ahead of its 2015 launch

The Maruti Ertiga MPV has been with us for the better part of three years now. As a result, it’s expected that Maruti Suzuki is working on a facelift to keep it fresh up against the Honda Mobilio and the Chevrolet Enjoy. A prototype with minimal camouflage has been photographed, by Maruti-only spy photographer GaadiWaadi.com.

Don’t expect a major cosmetic change to present themselves as the camouflage only hides what must be a reworked front and a refreshed rear. Look closely and you’ll be able to see that the front bumper design has been altered slightly, with the new alloy wheel design to give a fresh look.

Judging from the photos, the facelifted Ertiga could also sport a new front grille design – something along the lines of the new Maruti SX4 S-cross, perhaps? At the back, the rear bumper is expected to get a slightly different design compared to the current Ertiga, allowing for a sportier look.

Technical specifications are expected to carry over from the current-gen Maruti Ertiga with a possible minor upgrade for better fuel efficiency to regain the most fuel efficient MPV crown from Honda Mobilio. At present, the 1.4-litre K-Series petrol engine delivers 16.02 kmpl while the 1.3-litre diesel engine returns 20.77 kmpl. Taking the Swift as reference, expect a 10 percent increase of these figures.

The spy photographers also speculate the refreshed Ertiga to get AMT (with Safety lock & parking gear option) as well. Furthermore, electrically retractable wing mirrors, a Bluetooth-enabled music system, keyless entry and start/stop system should make way on the top-end variant.

With prototypes of the refreshed Ertiga already driving about, expect Maruti to pull back the covers on the refreshed Ertiga by the middle of 2015.
