The Indian Auto Expo, held every year in Delhi is not the same as it used to be a few years ago. Now, as all the manufacturers from across the globe have learnt that the Indian automotive industry is very huge and that the Indian market is very important for their success and hence, they come to the Auto Expo, all guns blazing. Case in point is, Toyota. At the Auto Expo this year, Toyota had lots of interesting stuff for all the automotive buffs from across the country.
Toyota revealed the 2014 Corolla, and the Etios Cross as well which garnered lots of attention, but the cars which people were more interested in were not launched or revealed. Toyota didn’t even announce whether these cars would be eventually launched in India. The cars in question are the Toyota Hiace passenger transport Van and the GT86, an entry level sports car from Toyota which were displayed at the Auto Expo by Toyota.
Toyota Hiace:
Toyota Hiace passenger transport Van
The Hiace is a 10-seater Van from Toyota which is aimed at premium taxi operators or chauffeuring services. For drive-train options, one can opt for a 3 liter, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel with a maximum output of 134 hp at 3,400 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 1,200 rpm, a 4-speed auto box sends this power to the rear wheels. Another option is a 2.7 liter petrol engine with an output of 148 HP and 241 NM.
Toyota GT86 an entry level sportscar
Te GT-86 is an entry level sports car that was made by Toyota in collaboration with Subaru, which sells the GT-86 with the name BRZ. The GT-86 is powered by a 2 liter, 4-cylinder boxer engine, with a maximum output of 197 HP and 205 NM and is available with both manual and automatic gearboxes. The GT-86 goes from 0-100 kmph in 7.6 seconds and can touch a top speed of around 226 kmph.
As said earlier, Toyota did not reveal if these models will be coming to India.
