Tata Motors has been trying to revive the Nano since its failure by trying to position it differently and getting it new variants. The car just got itself the Twist Active variant with power steering and the company has showcased two more upcoming variants of the Nano. One of them is the Nano automatic while the other variant is the one which gets opening tail gate, a feature that was sorely missed on Nano till now.
New Tata Nano Twist F-Tronic Concept
Tata has been trying to bestow the car with an opening tail gate for a while now but it is now that the same has finally been showcased. It will be launched soon in India. The opening tail gate will be a good addition to the youthful city car as now you can access the rear luggage space with ease instead of going through the tedious process of accessing the same through the rear seat.
As a result, the car’s weight has increased by around 70-80 kg which will dent fuel efficiency but Tata has now increased the fuel tank capacity of the car to 25 litres which would increase the range of the car. Coming to the automatic Nano, it gets a 4-speed transmission which like the Celerio and Zest is an AMT one. The Nano AMT will be the cheapest AMT car globally when it launches in India in 2015.
The car which was showcased at the event came with revamped bumper and black accents for the headlamps which might be the case of a minor facelift that Tata might give the Nano to keep it fresh. The Nano is now being re-positioned as a city car instead of being a low cost car and addition of features like opening tail gate and AMT will help the cause for sure.
