Mahindra, the popular UV maker in India has always had a certain following. All of its SUVs are the best-sellers in their respective segments barring the Quanto which has been facing heat after the launch of the EcoSport. However, it wants to turn around things and has bestowed the Quanto with Automated Manual Transmission, a segment leading feature that no other car in the competition has.
The Quanto with AMT has just been showcased at the Auto Expo and will come in an all new colour option of Blue with an updated interior as well. The company is pretty optimistic about AMT and we might just see the same in a slew of Mahindra cars in future. The SsangYong LIV-1 concept SUV was also showcased which could form the basis for the next-generation of Rexton SUV which has become popular in recent times in the country.
Mahindra will be participating in the Formula E championship later this-year in September and it showcased its car for the same. The race car will resemble the F3 and will be propelled by an electric motor. The details about it are unknown as of now but it has its maximum power output rated at 270 BHP. Mahindra is also pursuing the motto of launching electric vehicles aggressively and gearing itself up for the future.
Another one of it’s best-sellers, the XUV500 was launched in hybrid guise which the company claims will offer 18 percent better fuel efficiency than its regular sibling. The same will be achieved by teaming up the internal combustion motor with an electric motor at lower speeds. The electric motor gets recharged during coasting and braking, a phenomenon known as regenerative braking.
