BA readers knew that 2013 Skoda Octavia vRS is in the works. Now incidentally, Skoda Auto has uploaded some low resolution images of the Octavia RS in the car configurator software on their website. Maybe it was an accident, or they were just running a test, and the company was quick enough to remove the images. We were lucky enough to get these images though.
The sports version gets a sportier body, alloy wheels with brake calipers painted red to give it a sportier look, revised suspension setup and it also has a more powerful engine over the standard version. On the exteriors it gets a lot of sporty cosmetic upgrades, we can see slight changes to the lights as well as a modified bumper. The rear consists of a bigger bumper, larger exhausts and a spoiler.
Skoda will bring out a diesel vRS of the new Octavia in 2013, which will be powered by the 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine borrowed from the Volkswagen Golf, is said to be good for over 200bhp of peak power. There is also expected to be a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine which will produce around 177bhp and 350Nm of torque. These will be mostly clubbed with a six-speed manual as was the case with its predecessor.
The Skoda Octavia RS is expected to be officially unveiled next year at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed, just before the new Octavia goes on-sale.
