2013 Skoda Octavia is one of the most awaited model from Skoda. Recently the company has invited 11 journalists across the world to Portugal and handed them camouflaged test vehicles of the new Octavia, to have a test drive. The journalists were also shown the car without masking but were not allowed to click pictures.
However, while the journalists were operating the infotainment system of the smartly cloaked test mules which they drove up to a top speed of 170kph, they came across this digital 3D image of the car, which adorns the side view of the Octavia model 2013. The 2013 Skoda Octavia is longer and wider than the outgoing model. It is 4.65 meter long and has extended wheel base of 10.8 cm.
On the below image, we have marked the changes which Skoda was cleverly masked with tapes to hide the finer aspects of the 2013 Octavia’s design. The new Octavia will be the third generation car for the nameplate, will ride on the MQB platform and will draw its design inspiration from the Vision D concept.
The engine line-up will be borrowed from the seventh generation Volkswagen Golf, meaning there will be a choice of two petrol – an 85 HP 1.2-litre TSI and a 140 HP 1.4-litre TSI – and two diesel – a 105 HP 1.6-litre unit and a 150 HP 2.0-litre unit.
The 2013 Skoda Octavia is expected to be officially revealed on the internet in this-month, while launch is scheduled for March 2013 at the Geneva Motor Show. We can only expect this car to hit India shores by second-half of 2013. An RS version will officially be unveiled at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Rumors say that the RS version will now be offered with four-wheel-drive system and with both petrol and diesel engines.
