Joining the 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show is yet another Elantra variant that many have been waiting for – meet the new 2013 Hyundai Elantra Coupe. “It offers many of the same attributes that made the sedan version a sales success, while broadening its market reach to youthful, sporty buyers willing to forgo four-door versatility for coupe design appeal,” Hyundai said in a statement.
Most of the coupe’s exterior resembles the Elantra sedan, buy takes the brand’s ‘Fluidic Sculpture’ design theme to a sportier design language. The new language is getting am overwhelming response across the globe and to broaden the appeal of Elantra, the company is all set to introduce a Coupe version of the same
As expected the coupe model is powered by the same 1.8 litre NU 4 cylinder engine that powers the sedan version. The unit offers 148 BHP of max power and 178 Nm of peak torque(both are estimated figures) and is expected to equip either a six speed manual transmission or an automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC manual control. The car’s mileage is estimated to be 10.27 KMPL in city and 14.16 KMPL on highway for Manual transmission model and 9.91 KMPL in city and 13.81 KMPL on highway for automatic variant.
Inside, the story is pretty much the same as the Elantra sedan in terms of technology options and features, however, roominess is sacrificed. Nonetheless, the interior volume comes in at 110.2 cubic feet,which exceeds the 2012 Honda Civic Coupe and 2012 Kia Forte Koup by quite a lot.
