Honda has some real aggressive plans for future for the performance biking segment in India and it is believed that the company will launch the CBR 500R in India this-year at a very attractive price tag of Rs 3 lakh, give or take a few thousand. The CBR 500R is a fully faired sportsbike and it will be one of the best bikes to drive around. A point worth mentioning is that the Ninja 300R will sell around the same price point.
The CBR 500R has a very aggressive front and the headlights are a delight to see. The bike will have a sporty cum tourer stance. The bike will have a 500cc motor which will be a twin-cylinder motor and will churn out 54 bhp. It will come with ABS as standard but the Indian spec bike might just get the ABS as optional to keep the price tag low.
The bike will fill the gap between 250cc and 600 cc bikes in India without costing much. It will weigh just 194 kgs. It has telescopic forks at the front and it gets a Pro-link single-shock rear. You get a 320 mm disc brake up front and a 240 mm disc at the rear to bring the bike to a hault. The ABS will further help to bring the bike to a stop.
Honda will also bring two more versions of the bike, the CB 500F and CB 500X. These will be the touring and naked versions of the bike and the naked version will surely cost less than the faired version. The Indians are surely in for a treat this-year and the next-year as well. Honda brought the performance biking at a budget when they launched the CBR 250R and now they’ll carry on from the 500 cc bikes.
