Renault India has revealed the next big launch of 2012 Renault Koleos at a press event in New Delhi where it briefed about its Future Roadmap in India till 2012. Renault has already launched its Renault Fluence Sedan in India in May 2011 and will be launching its compact SUV Renault Koleos in India in October 2011 around the Diwali Festival season in India.
The 2012 Koleos SUV gets more rounded lines as compared to the edgy front design team has dropped the vertical split grille of the earlier model for a more conventional package with headlights that resemble that on the Latitude sedan. Mirrors now get integrated LED turn-signals. Renault has also improved the interior of the SUV and now offers more toys including hands-free entry and ignition, electronic parking brake, automatic headlights and wipers and Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control systems on the 4×4 version of the Koleos.
The new Koleos will be powered by a powerful 2 Litre CRDI Diesel engine with a max power of about 150 BHP. The Koleos will come with a 6 speed Manual transmission and will be assembled in India. It will be imported as CKD unit with local assembly plant in Chennai India.
The Koleos will be a CKD in India and compete with the likes of BMW X1, Mitsubishi outlander and Nissan X-trail a few to be named. The pricing of Koleos is not announced as of now, but we expect it to be priced around Rs. 20 Lakh. Renault has priced Fluence quite aggressively and Koleos is also expected with a tempting price tag.
