Nissan Motors has announced the introduction of the 2012 model of its flagship car the GT-R, also known as the Godzilla. The new car goes on sale in Japan latter month, while booking in rest of the world will start early next year.

The outgoing twin-turbo V6-powered 530ps monster showcased at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show delivered a total of 473 HP and the latest addition, the 2012 Nissan GT-R delivers an output of 542 HP, a 12 HP improvement over the current model. Along with the improved engine output of 550 PS (542-hp) and 632 Nm (466 lb-ft), that whittles the 0-62mph time down from 3.0 seconds to 2.8 (Two Point Eight) that’s 0.1 seconds faster than a Lamborghini Aventador.

Nissan claims improved efficiency and an enhanced transmission “feel” thanks to a new shift fork arm, a firmer flywheel housing bearing and a new differential oil. Nissan says the power increase is also couple with more mid- and low-torque and comes thanks to improvements in intake efficiency, lower air flow resistance and better exhaust valve cooling performance.

The automaker also says that for the RHD versions of the car, which obviously include domestic models, the suspension has been set up asymmetrically to compensate for the driver and the fact that the propeller shaft for front wheels is located on the right side of the vehicle.

2012 Nissan GT-R - RearView

Interior wise, as of now all GT-Rs will have a rear view camera installed as standard, while the Bose sound system woofers, have been changed to Bose Precision Sound System woofers that were developed for the EGOIST grade to further enhance sound quality.

A new “For TRACK PACK” variant will also be available which drops some weight on the Nissan GT-R by means of eliminating the rear bench to make for a real track performer. By the time you are reading these lines, you’re probably already dreaming of what you can do with 550 hp and a track-focused all-wheel drive chassis.

Nissan is considering launching the GT-R in India for a while, and the company might just wait and offer the new model in India, post the global launch.
