A couple of weeks before we brought you the first spyshots of the facelifted 2013 Grand Vitara surfaced on a web. Yesterday Japanese automaker Suzuki has launched the 2013 Grand Vitara 5-seater SUV in its home market with a new name – Escudo. But in India, 2013 Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV is expected to be launched later this-year or early next-year.
At present in India, the Grand Vitara is sold by Maruti Suzuki and in due course of time, the facelifted model could land on Indian shores as well. As the Grand Vitara is imported into India as a completely built unit and any change in the global model usually gets reflected on the SUV sold in the Indian market.
Coming back to the 2013 Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV, it features a new refreshed front-fascia with a a newly designed front grille with twin-bars in the shape of wings, a tweaked bumper that gains black trim, black headlamp bezels and new alloy wheel styles, while Suzuki also discarded the spare rear wheel on the tailgate and moved the license plate holder.
However, 2013 Grand Vitara is pretty much the same on its side profile. The interiors too remain largely unchanged in terms of design although we could see new material and color for seats and door panels.
Engine also remains the same with a 2.4 liter four cylinder petrol engine with 165 PS power and 225 Nm torque. The upcoming model gets a 4 wheel drive mode as standard while 4WD mode comes with 4L and 4H modes giving the vehicle better off road drive conditions.
A special edition model called X-Adventure is also in the offering which will have a Bison Brown Pearl Metallic exterior finish, 18″ alloy wheels, a chrome front grille and additional equipment such as a sun roof while interiors will have a red swede finish seen on seats, steering wheel and gear shifters.
