Just a couple days before, Mitsubishi Motors launched the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and now there are reports that it has launched the seven seater version of Mitsubishi Outlander SUV silently. The seven seater Outlander price in India is reportedly known to be Rs 19.95 lakh(ex-showroom price, New Delhi) which makes the 2012 seven-seater Outlander cheaper by Rs 1 lakh than the out-going 5-seater predecessor. The new 2012 Outlander will compete with the likes of the Honda CR-V, Ford Endeavor and Chevrolet Captiva.

The company has also introduced a 2013 version of Outlander at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and this new car might take one complete year to make an entry in the Indian car market. Mitsubishi plans to launch this new 2013 version of Outlander in their home market of Japan later this year and then it would release it in other countries. Till the release of the 2013 version of outlander, the Indian car market will just see the 7-seater Outlander Crossover.

However, the extra couple of seats would be the jump seats which appear to be quite cramped and would not prove to be much comfortable for longer distances. The jump seats have one advantage though; they can be easily folded and moved out of the way in order to exploit the entire boot space as and when required.

RefresherThe car is powered by the same old 2.4 litre MPFI petrol engine that powers it 5 seater model. This unit generates 167 BHP of max power and 226 Nm of max torque and is coupled to a 6 speed automatic transmission. The car delivers a claimed mileage of 10.3 KMPL which is fine keeping in mind the petrol motor. Disappointingly there is no diesel engine option.
