Ford of Europe will be holding the global debut of its new Tourneo Custom Concept at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, hinting at a new minivan option for the European market. We’re were wondering if the Ford Torneo would make sense for the Indian market considering the fact that there are almost half a dozen MPVs lined up for launches in the Indian market  during 2012.

“One look at the Tourneo Custom Concept is enough to tell you that it will inject an exciting new spirit into the personal use segment,” said Stephen Odell, chairman and CEO, Ford of Europe. “Our forthcoming new range gives us the opportunity to appeal to new customers with a fresh new direction, and we have seized that opportunity with both hands.

Ford says that the Tourneo Custom Concept will debut a range of new features along with a driver-focused interior and a number of interior cabin room innovations including multi-adjustable and removable rear seating, advanced SYNC, in-car connectivity and Ford’s ECOnetic Technologies.

The Ford Torneo Concept could go into production in the later part of 2012 and will be available in short wheelbase and long wheelbase version. The Torneo MPV will be available with a flexible seating layout that can seat 7-9 passengers. Also, the MPV’s seating can be reconfigured to allow for more versatility and luggage carrying capability. The Torneo MPV will feature sliding doors at the rear.
