Skoda India will launch a cosmetic uplift of Skoda Laura RS at the festival season to attract more sales in India as people consider it more auspicious to make purchases around Diwali festival season.
The company will launch the Laura RS with the RS body kits, but not the 200 bhp, 2.0 litre turbo-petrol engine, according to AutoCarIndia editor Hormazd Sorabjee which was displayed at the Auto Expo 2010.
The Laura RS will be powered by the same 1.8 litre TSI engine that makes a decent 160 bhp of maximum power. The engine may be mated to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox).
Skoda’s decision to play safe with the less powerful engine could be mainly because of the rising fuel price hikes as the running cost of a Laura RS powered by the 200 bhp mill will be much more than that for the 160 bhp motor, the existing 1.8 Litre TSI engine makes better sense.
The major upgrades in the Laura RS as follows –
- New exteriors body kit
- Sporty Interiors
- LED Lights
- Spoiler at rear
- 3 Spoke sporty steering wheel
- vRS Badge
It will be more interesting to see if Skoda could bring the 200-bhp version of Laura RS in India which is quicker and gets 280Nm of torque that can reach 100 Kmph from zero in just 7.5-seconds.
