Country’s best-selling Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV), Tata Ace gets yet another new variant that slot between the Tata Ace HT and Tata Super Ace, called ‘Tata Ace Mega’. It is priced at Rs 4.31 (ex-showroom, Thane) which is 10-11% more costlier than the entry-level Tata Ace HT.
The Ace Mega measures 3,835 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2,100 mm. It rides on 14-inch wheels and has a ground clearance of 175 mm. The loading bay measures 2,140 mm in length and 1,430 mm in width and the vehicle has a payload capacity of 1,030 kg. It comes with leaf spring suspension system (on rigid front and rear axles), and load body have been beefed up to handle the additional payload.
Powering the Ace Mega is the 2-cylinder 800 cc DiCOR diesel engine developing out 40 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 94 Nm of torque @ 2,000-2,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Tata says that the LCV can attain a top speed of 90 kph and return a fuel consumption figure of 18.5 kmpl. The braking system too has been upgraded with 7″ vacuum booster.
On the exterior, the Ace Mega is only available in Azure Blue exterior color option with body colored front bumper, new front protective wheel arch eyebrows, new sporty body graphics, wide angle ORVM on both sides further accentuate the vehicle’s stance. On the inside, it comes equipped with a lockable glovebox, provision for a music system, mobile charging facility, digital clock and full fabric seat upholstery.
In the first phase, the Ace Mega will be sold in seven states – Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. The vehicle will be introduced in other states at a later stage.
