Honda Amaze was one of the most watched and most awaited diesel sedans in India. Buyers were really excited about a diesel Honda, well it’s finally here and with the bookings open all the dealers want to grab the share of it. Honda has dispatched 2,000 units of Amaze to its dealers in India. Just as the buyers the dealers are also excited about the sales numbers the Amaze can reach being the first diesel Honda.

As per some reports on thenews channels, the car had managed to get over 13,500 bookings by 15th April and that number is going up each day as we talk about it. So if you are planning to buy one, you better hurry because the waiting periods for the car going to soar in the coming time.

Even dealers as a promotional activity have started inviting customers who have been associated with them from a long time and those who are interested in getting associated for the test drive of the Amaze. Practically there is nothing so far that can hamper the sales of Amaze, since its place in the right segment at a right price, plus the Honda brand itself is very strong and so is the dealer network.

Furthermore, the company has also offered an attractive Honda Care maintenance package for 2 years or 40,000 kms (whichever is earlier) for Rs 9,996 for Amaze Petrol and Rs 15,375 for Amaze Diesel. The existing cars in this segment include, Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Mahindra Verito, Ford Classic, Toyota Etios, and Chevrolet Sail.

Now if we consider the monthly average sales figures for the last 3 months of these cars, then DZire registers 18,000, Sail 1,500, Fiesta Classic 600, Toyota Etios 3,500 and Mahindra Verito at 1,200. Clearly, Maruti DZire is the king in this segment, and is also the benchmark for Honda’s Amaze.

Honda’s new Amaze is designed and priced to take on the Maruti DZire. But, it is not expected to beat the DZire in overall sales. At the most, analysts expect the Amaze to shave DZire’s sales figures by a couple of thousands, but not to exceed it. Maruti will still maintain its lead, thanks to a larger dealer network and a better brand following.

Well it’s a wait and watch show, since the competition is tough to beat.
