Tata Motors are developing a performance version of both the Tiago hatchback and the Tigor compact sedan. Both will have a JTP badge after their names, due to the collaboration with Jayem Automotives. The Tiago JTP was spotted recently and now, spy images of the Tigor JTP have emerged.
We can see the Tigor JTP wrapped in bits of camouflage undergoing testing. This picture was clicked in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, indicating that the car is close to being in the stage of production. Tata Motors showcased the Tigor JTP alongside the Tiago JTP at the 2018 Auto Expo in February.
Compared to the stock Tigor, the JTP version will come with some changes. These include a large glossy black grille at the front, smoked out headlamps, new bumpers and a JTP logo. The JTP logo will also be featured on the fender vents, with red mirror caps and underbody skirts also being considered.
On the inside, the Tigor JTP will get gloss black inserts on the interior, leather seats and steering. It also features red coloured AC vents and a JTP badging on the seats. Features include dual front airbags, automatic climate control, ABS with EBD and CSC, a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and so on.
Engine-wise, the Tigor JTP will employ a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine. This engine can deliver 110 BHP of power and 150 Nm of torque. It will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Prices are expected to start from Rs. 6 lakh for the Tigor JTP and go all the way to Rs. 10 lakh for the top trim. We can expect it to be launched alongside the Tiago JTP during the upcoming festive season. The Tigor JTP, when launched, will be the first of its kind performance-oriented compact sedan in the Indian market.
