Ford EcoSport Police Patrol Cars handed over for Vijayawada Police

Andhra Pradesh government has ordered close to 200 units of new cars like Toyota Innova, Ford EcoSport and the rumored Tata Sumo for the Vijayawada Police Dept in order to chase and intercept law breakers. The new Ford EcoSport is expected to be used as Highway patrol vehicles. After the launch of Ford EcoSport on June 26th 2013, Ford has not only experienced drastic raise in sales in the Indian market but also has made a prominent position when compared to the other manufacturers in this segment.

As per the reports obtained, Trend variant of the Ford EcoSport which in fact is the second lowest variant after the Ambiente was spotted at the Vijayawada Police Dept. Ford EcoSport’s Trend variant features adjustable steering wheel, manual air conditioning, 15 inch steel wheels, ABS, body colored bumpers and power windows. Along with this, Gujarat Police is testing the Harley-Davidson Street 750 for ferrying equipment and also to escort VIP guests.

Coming to the technical specifications, Ford EcoSport’s Ambiente variant is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel motor producing a maximum power of 90 BHP at a maximum torque of 204 NM. With these recent introductions, we expect all the police forces in India regardless of different states to be soon provided with premium SUV’s available so that criminals do not outperform police on road.
