The much awaited MT-09 naked street-fighter has been launched in India at the ongoing 2016 Auto Expo, priced at Rs 10.2 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi.
Yamaha India’s brand ambassador John Abraham wrapped-off this beast at the event. In the company’s superbike stable, the MT-09 will share space with the Yamaha R1, the Yamaha FZ-1 and the V-Max. And will compete with the likes of Triumph Street Triple, Kawasaki Z800 and Benelli TNT899. The MT-09 is on-sale in India in two colours – Race Blue and Matt Grey.
The monster is powered by a newly-developed 847cc liquid-cooled, in-line, 4-stroke, triple-cylinder, fuel injected engine that produces 115 PS power at 10,000 rpm and 87.5 Nm torque at 8,500 rpm mated to a 6 speed constant mesh gearbox. Yamaha claims the mileage of 19 kmpl. From the safety perspective, the MT-09 gets 298mm Hydraulic dual disc up front and 245mm Hydraulic single disc at the rear.
