Will Honda CBR400R come to India?

Upcoming Honda CBR400R

Almost all the 2 wheeler manufacturer in India are busy rolling-out their 250cc bikes and if they don’t have in their portfolio, they are creating them. Performance segment has gained momentum and now it feels like the Indian market is finally ready to accept a 400cc sportbike. To make use of this opportunity like always, Japanese bike manufacturer Honda is step further of introducing 400cc machine onto the global market and they might launch in India.

Though not confirmed officially, according to an exclusive scoop by the Japanese magazine ‘Young Machine’, the CBR400R is going to be another hit in the market. That’s all we know for now but we’re as excited as you are and can’t wait to see how it pans out, and whether Honda brings this new bike into our country is to be seen. Until then, wait, watch and pray!

Under the skin, the new CBR 400R is expected to have a parallel twin-cylinder 400-cc machine that will generate approximately 50 PS of peak power and will attain a top speed of 180 km/h. There has been no other media sites who have revealed about similar developments at the moment; however the magazine also supposedly states that the bike would be a global model manufactured at Honda’s manufacturing facility in Thailand.

Discontinued Honda CBR400R

In recent times, Honda’s CBR 250R and CBR 150R have been highly successful in many parts of the world including India. However, while the 150cc and 250cc motorcycles are for the beginners, the 600RR and 1000RR are for the pros. There is nothing that bridges the gap between these two sets of motorcycles and to bridge the gap they are working on the CBR 400R.

Honda too might be interested in bringing the CBR400R to India, and there’s no reason why they shouldn’t, so we can expect Honda CBR400R to foray into the Indian market. Over the next few months, expect more buzz surrounding this model to emerge. Until then, keep an eye out on this space as we ceaselessly scour the interweb for any wind on the CBR400R story.

Also there are other companies who have already planned to launch motorcycles in similar segment like Yamaha has a 400cc motorcycle on their cards, the R4. Meanwhile, Bajaj and KTM too have 375cc motorcycle in their portfolio slated to see the light of day in the next two years.

What we say? Like Honda has put the 250cc market on fire with a terrific price, we expect Honda CBR400R to deliver the same. With local manufacturing and parts sourcing, we expect Honda CBR400R to be price around Rs. 3 lakh.
