Volkswagen announced that a 1.2 MPI powerplant is now available for the Cross Polo in Indian car market. Launched in August-2013, the Cross Polo was only available in 1.5-liter TDI diesel engine so far and now with the Cross Polo petrol trim, Volkswagen is ready to compete with the likes of Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Avventura and soon-to-be launched Hyundai Elite i20 Cross.
The Cross Polo is available in a single trim line, the top-end.
The 1.2 MPI is powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine seen on the regular Polo. This engine is good for 74 bhp and 110 Nm of torque, and is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. With an official economy rating of 16.47 kmpl, the car has been priced at Rs. 6.94 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The bookings for the new Cross Polo has already commenced today.
Unlike the Avventura, the Cross Polo is purely a cosmetic variant of the Polo, with no significant point to speak-off. The car is equipped with dual-beam halogen headlamps with black finish, 15-inch alloy wheels, Cross Polo-badged body cladding, bumpers with silver accents, silver-painted roof rails and rear-view mirror housing and ‘Cross’ front grille with chrome accents.
The Cross Polo MPI is powered by a 3-cylinder petrol engine.
On the inside, the car gets a leather-wrapped flat-bottomed steering wheel, Cloud Titan black upholstery, Climatronic automatic air-conditioning and a 2-DIN CD player with Radio, AUX-IN, SD Card USB and Bluetooth connectivity. On the safety front, the Cross Polo comes equipped with dual front airbags and ABS as standard.
Volkswagen Cross Polo (petrol and diesel variants) are available in a range of 3 shades – Flash Red, Deep Black and Reflex Silver.
