As India is celebrating its 74th Independence day, Volvo are looking to make the event more memorable and sweeter. The Swedish automaker will offer the Volvo XC40 T4 R-Design at a special price of Rs. 36.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Volvo XC40, being the entry level vehicle for Volvo here, was earlier priced at Rs. 39.90 lakh.
Now, under the automaker’s ‘Hassle-free Offer’, there will be a price cut of Rs.3 lakh on the XC40. That’s not all, customers will also receive a few complimentary accessories worth Rs. 1 lakh from Volvo. This seems a pretty interesting offer on paper given it comes from an automaker like Volvo, which has a high pedigree here.
For the price, the XC40 comes with features such as a panoramic sunroof, 12.3 inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone auto climate control, powered tailgate and so on. Safety-wise, the Volvo XC40 is quite well equipped as well with the highlight being a radar based active safety segment, which is also a segment first. At present, the Volvo XC40 is available only in a Front Wheel Drive mood.
Engine-wise, there is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor that does its duty inside. This motor is able to make 190 BHP of power and 300 Nm of torque. It comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The price cut will give the Volvo XC40 a much needed shot in the arm when compared to its contemporaries. These include the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA and the Audi Q3. It will be interesting to see whether the Volvo XC40 could get one over the German trio now and in the process gather some sales momentum for the automaker.
