Triumph Motorcycles debut in India – first showroom to be in Bangalore

In 2012, at the Indian Auto Expo held in Delhi, British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph had displayed its motorcycles for the first time in the country, and when Triumph announced that they would launch all their bikes and also build a manufacturing facility in India, it got all the biking enthusiasts in the country all excited and pumped up. But Triumph took their own sweet time to bring their bikes to our shores and just last-month, after 2 years, finally, Triumph launched their range of motorcycles in India.

Now, Triumph is in the process of sourcing dealers and franchise partners in our country and they have found the first one already. The first Triumph dealership in India is located in Bangalore. The old cash pharmacy heritage building on residency road was converted into a modern building a couple of years back, this building had huge retail space on the ground floor and a Mitsubishi Motors dealership had taken this retail space on rent. Given the poor state of Mitsubishi Motors in India, it was obvious that the dealership was not making any sales at all, so the Mitsubishi dealership has closed down, and Triumph has grabbed the opportunity and taken up this retail place. Since this place is located in one of the most happening and up-market places in Bangalore, Triumph is guaranteed to make itself known amongst Bangaloreans.

The motorcycles that will be sold here are, Daytona 675R, Street Triple and Speed Triple, Rocket III, Roadster, Thunderbird, Storm, Classic Bonneville and Bonneville T100, Thruxton, Tiger XC and Tiger explorer.

While The Daytona 675, the Speed triple, Street triple and the Bonneville will be brought in via the CKD (Completely Knocked Down kits) route and will be assembled at Triumph’s new assembly unit at Manesar, Haryana, other models will be brought in via the CBU (Completely Built Unit). The assembly of the models will later be shifted to Triumph’s manufacturing facility at Narasapura, near Bangalore which is expected to be operational by 2015.
