SPYSHOTS: Tata Timero trade-marked, test mule spotted again

It is no secret that Tata Motors are developing a micro-SUV which is set to hit the markets soon. Trademarked as Tata Timero, it will likely be going on floors during the early stages of 2021. Recently, images of the Tata Timero test mule have been doing the rounds on the internet.

Tata trademarks the Timero name, could be used as HBX’s title.

These images show a production-ready version of the Tata Timero wrapped in some amount of camouflage. One more thing we can notice is the test mule having the same 16-inch as seen on the Altroz. It will also borrow a lot of features from fellow Tata cars.

These include climate control, keyless entry, parking sensors and a multi-info display to name a few. Safety-wise, the Tata Timero will come equipped with dual airbags, ABS with EBD and Corner stability control. We can expect the Tata Timero to be following the same standard as fellow Tata cars when it comes to safety.

There are quite a lot of similarities between the test mule and its concept version. The latter was unveiled during the 2020 Auto Expo and was destined for a launch during the end of this year. However, Tata Motors decided to shift its launch further to the early months of 2021.

The micro-SUV could be heading here only with a petrol motor. This will be the 1.2 litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine seen on models such as the Tiago and Altroz. The engine in question makes 86 BHP of power and 113 Nm of torque.

It will come mated either to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission. There are chances of the Tata Timero coming with a diesel as well, but as per reports it may seem unlikely to happen. The Tata Timero will be priced on par with the Tiago which could make it another good option in the segment.

It is said to be priced at around the Rs. 5 lakh mark, with its top trims touching Rs.10 lakh. When launched, the micro-SUV will take on the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Mahindra KUV100 NXT, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Ford Figo. The Tata Timero will be positioned below the Nexon in Tata Motors line-up and will be the amongst the most affordable offerings available in the market.
