Tata Motors unveiled the KITE 5 compact sedan at the 2016 Auto Expo. KITE 5 shares the XO based platform with the Zica hatchback and will replace the ageing Indigo eCS, after its launch.
KITE 5 will be made available in both, petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol engine will be the 1.2-litre engine is from Revotron family producing 85 PS power and 110 Nm torque and the diesel will be a 1.0-litre engine diesel is from Revotorq family producing 70 PS power and 140 Nm torque. Both these engines will be 3-cylinder and will have Tata’s Multi-Drive driving modes (City and Eco).
The KITE 5 compact sedan measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,647 mm in width, 1,535 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. It rides on 15-inch alloy wheels and gets a 35-litre fuel tank. To ensure a smooth and comfortable ride the KITE 5 compact sedan will be fitted with Independent lower McPherson strut with coil spring at the front and semi-independent twist beam with dual-path strut suspension system at the rear.
The interiors of the KITE 5 will be feature a new 3-spoke steering wheel with controls, new dashboard design and instrument panel along with premium upholstery and some features borrowed from the Tata Zest. Apart from the interior upgrades the KITE 5 sedan will come fitted with a 5-inch Harman infotainment system with 8-speakers, Bluetooth connectivity, and navigation system. The safety features will include dual airbags, ABS, electrically adjustable ORVMs and voice command.
The KITE 5 will be launched under the sub-4 meter category and will compete against the likes of Honda Amaze, Maruti DZire, Ford Figo Aspire and Hyundai Xcent.
