Before the launch of Tata’s flagship model, the Hexa, the national automaker has received 250 bookings since the order books were opened.
Reports on the web that the Tata Hexa is scheduled for launch on January 16, however, Tata Motors is yet to confirm a fix date of launch. The bookings have already commenced since the beginning of this-month, with deliveries expected to start by end of January, the unconfirmed report also states that the initial stock and test drive cars will arrive at some Tata dealerships in the first week of December.
The Aria-based crossover will be on-sale in seven variants: XE 7-seater, XM 7-seater, XT 6-seater, XT 7-seater, XMA 7-seater, XTA 6-seater and XT 4×4 6-seater, two of the seven variants will feature an automatic transmission. The top-spec XT with 6-speed manual is only available with a 4WD system and Tata’s Super Drive modes – Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road.
In terms of powertrain options, the Tata Hexa has a 2.2L four-cylinder VariCOR turbodiesel engine with 156 PS at 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque between 1,700-2,700 rpm, paired to a 5-speed manual (XE only), 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. It will be competitively priced against the Mahindra XUV500 and Toyota Innova Crysta in range of Rs. 12-16 lakh (ex-showroom).
