Not very long before the Tata Hexa makes its Indian market debut – word on the vine is that the much-anticipated Aria-based crossover is due for launch in the coming weeks.
And its appearance in Leh-Manali highway, for a TV commercial shoot is a good indicator that it’s all getting very close now. Once launched, the Hexa is going to become the flagship model for the home-grown car maker. It made its first debut at the 2016 Auto Expo and is the long time replacement to the dud-seller Aria crossover.
Under the bonnet, the Hexa will get a 2.2-litre VARICOR turbodiesel engine source from the Tata Safari Storme. This unit is tuned to generate 154 bhp and 400 Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed AT which debuted in the Thai-spec Xenon pickup will constitute the transmission lineup. The mid-spec ‘XMA’ trim spotted confirms automatic transmissions availability in lower trims, as well!
