Tata Bolt quietly appears in showrooms

It appears that the Tata Bolt has quietly slipped into certain Tata Motors showroom in South India. Thanks to Mr. Rahul Nair for snapping the first units of the car arriving at a showroom in Kottayam, Kerala. The model spotted here is the top-end petrol variant of the Bolt, the Bolt XT (Revotron).

The online bookings for the Tata Bolt commenced couple of weeks earlier at a booking amount of just INR 11,000. The Tata Bolt is the second car from the Pune-based car manufacturer under its Horizon Next Strategy. It is expected to be offered in six variants and with two engine options of which only the petrol is expected to be available at the time of the launch.

In terms of features, the Bolt comes loaded with first-in-the-segment features like the projector headlights, electrically-adjustable wing mirrors, Harman infotainment system with 8-speakers and navigation support, Bluetooth connectivity, smartphone integration, voice recognition and much more. Other features include foglights, alloy wheels, rear wiper and washer, central locking, multifunction steering wheel and automatic climate control.

Powering the Bolt will be the same engine options as the Zest, concluding into petrol and diesel engine. The petrol variant will get its power from a 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged Multi-point Fuel Injection (MPFi) mill, good for 90 bhp and peak torque of 140 Nm. The petrol variant gets three driving modes – Eco, Sport and City.

The Bolt diesel will come equipped with the same Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre unit, rated at 75 bhp and 190 Nm of peak torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox will come as standard across all variants, however, the AMT is not offered even as an option for now, but could find its place later on. Tata Bolt top-end variants will receive safety features such as corner stability control, ABS, EBD and dual airbags.
