Looks like the family at Suzuki Motorcycles India is about to get a whole lot bigger with the addition of the Suzuki Gixxer 250, confirmed by folks at Zigwheels, the development of new single-cylinder 250cc motorcycle is well on track to make its global debut at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi.
In terms of styling, the Gixxer 250 is likely to resemble its Gixxer 155 street fighter sibling, however, the overall dimensions would be slightly larger. And the riding posture too will be similar to the Gixxer 155. Other features include a telescopic fork front suspension and a monoshock at the rear, disc brakes at the front and rear.
As for powertrain option, the motorcycle will get a newly developed 250cc single-cylinder engine that is expected to make around 25-28 PS of power and will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The Gixxer 250 is expected to be priced around Rs 1.5 lakh and is expected to go on-sale in India by end-2016.
The Gixxer 250 is expected to be priced around Rs 1.5 lakh range (ex-showroom) and will compete against the KTM 200 Duke and the upcoming Mahindra Mojo. A full-faired version of the Gixxer 250 likely to be called Gixxer 250 SF will be launched later.
