2013 Skoda Octavia (spied) – ExteriorView
Skoda’s mission for the year 2013 is to launch 6 new models by the end of the year, and the upgraded Octavia is a part of it. The car had made its global debut last year in Czech Republic, the same model is expected to be launched in India by the end of 2013. The car has been regularly seen doing test rounds in Pune and Bangalore. This time the car was spotted without any camouflage, instead this time even its interiors are revealed.
The 2013 Octavia is based on the VW MQB design and is also bigger in size in terms of length, width and height. The car is stretched by about 90mm in length and 45mm in width, the head room is further increased by about 8mm. There improvements in the cabin size, making it more spacious and provides more room for knee and elbow movements. The car houses a boot that’s as huge as 590 litres. It’s due to the MQB platform, that the Octavia even with an increased size is 102 kg lighter than the current model.
As we can see in the pictures taken by PowerDrift there has been no change in the interiors from the European spec Octavia. The interiors are packed with features like multi-function steering wheel, in-dash infotainment screen that doubles as a display for parking sensor and climate control layout. Other features include, driver fatigue sensor, leather and cloth upholstery, electronic OVRM’s, keyless entry and Green Tech Start/Stop system, Brake energy regeneration and Gear recommendation. The car is also equipped with safety features like, 9-airbags, Active bonnet, Secondary braking system and a lot more.
2013 Skoda Octavia (spied) – InteriorView
The car will be available in 4 petrol variants and 4 diesel variants. The petrol version will include the 1.4-litre TSI tuned to produce 120bhp and 138bhp. The other two petrol engine available will be the 1.8-litre TSI and the 2.0-litre TSI. The diesel versions will include the 1.6-litre TDI again with different power outputs, 103bhp and 108bhp, a 2.0-litre TDI producing 147bhp and 181bhp. The options in power transmission include six-speed manual or either a six-speed automatic for the diesel and a seven-speed for the petrol engine.
