The recent spy shots of Jeep’s Grand Cherokee and Wrangler obtained by our friends at RushLane confirms that the two new models from Jeep would be soon launched by Fiat in the Indian market. The two cars spotted, one being the old 2013 model and the other being the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee which made its world premiere at the Detroit Motor Show early this year is now believed to be under test by Fiat India in order to tune the vehicle and make it optimum for the Indian roads.
In the spy shots, the two SUVs was seen testing side-by-side, which makes it easier to find the differences between the two models. The old Grand Cherokee gets a flashy chrome grille and almost rectangular headlights sans daytime running lights (DRLs), whereas the 2014 model gets a sharper looking headlight cluster with DRLs and the chrome is used only for the inlays of the vertical slats.
Coming to the rear, the upcoming 2014 Grand Cherokee gets a rectangular shaped combination light cluster as compared to the older model’s triangularly shaped ones. Apart from this, the older model gets a chrome strip for the number plate holder, whereas the 2014 Grand Cherokee would instead have only a ‘Jeep’ logo which is clearly visible in one of the spyshots.
The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in Laredo, Laredo E, Limited, Overland, Overland Summit, and SRT8 versions. India is expected to get the Overland Summit, as it was the one which was earlier spotted testing in the Indian roads. Coming to the technical specifications, the upcoming Grand Cherokee would be powered with a 3.0-litre diesel engine which produces a maximum power of 243 PS at a maximum torque of 569 Nm which would be coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The upcoming Grand Cherokee would be priced at around 45-50 lakhs INR and is expected to be launched in the month of October later this year.
