Recently at the 2012 Auto Expo, Force Motors had showcased new variant of its modern age Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Force One in the form of Force One 4X4. The company intends to launch the same with some more added features and that includes an Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) equipped version as well.
Now Anything-On-Wheels reader Biswajit has spotted a Force One SUV with test plates sans the logo and badges in Pune. So, can we assume that this is indeed the 4WD variant or the top-end variant with features like ABS and Airbags being tested before being put into the market?
As of now, the price tag and exact date of the launch is not revealed by the company, but it is expected by amid this year. The important safety feature incorporated 4X4 SUV can be priced INR 1 Lakh more against the cost of existing 4X2 variant, which comes at INR 10.65 Lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).
The New Force One will now be seen in direct competition with the likes of existing Mahindra XUV500 and Tata Safari Storme, which will also see its launch by mid of 2012. The powerful new version of Force One will not possess any changes in the exteriors to make a distinction from its earlier counterpart, besides a 4X4 crest on the sides or on the rear tailgate.
The full-sized SUV, Force One 4X4 will see the regular FM-Tech 2149cc 4-cylinders in-line Common Rail Diesel engine (CRDi) at work. The Mercedes Benz sourced drive-train has the potential to generate maximum power of 141 bhp at 3800 rpm together with 321 Nm of peak torque at 1600-2400 rpm. The engine will be mated to a five speed manual transmission as in the present Force One 4X2 variant.
Apart from Force One, the company also plans to launch a new Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) that will be based on Mercedes Benz Viano by end of this calendar year. This MPV is sure to make way difficult for New Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo in India.
Though the Force One is not a great looker in the first place, we have to admit that this particular test vehicle with its all-black treatment does look sinfully macho.
