SPIED: Maruti Alto 800 facelift – new front-end, no major changes

After the Ertiga and Dzire, the Alto 800 facelift looks set to be the next model in the carmaker’s line-up to undergo a facelift. Thanks to Gaadiwadi, we now have a first look at just what those changes might be.

On the exterior, the Alto 800’s front fascia appears to be revamped. It gets redesigned headlights with yellow lens for the turn indicators, a slimmer grille and new front bumper with a trapezoidal airdam and provision for foglights, while side and rear profile remains largely similar.

Moving inside, the Alto 800 facelift retains its familiar dashboard. There are report that the Alto 800 facelift will use a similar interior layout as the Maruti Alto K10 with dual-tone theme, a 2-DIN integrated music system with AUX-in and a new instrument cluster.

No mechanical changes, the Alto 800 facelift will be powered by a 796cc, 3-cylinder, petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This unit develops 47 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 69 Nm of torque @ 3,500 rpm. It will be offered with a CNG option as well. However, it is unclear if Maruti equips it with its AMT (automated manual transmission).

We know that the Renault Kwid has become a nightmare to the Alto 800 for the coming months, thus, in order to counter the Kwid effect, Maruti has geared-up to launch a facelift version, and Datsun too is scheduled to launch the redi-GO early next month.
