A Team-bhpian member has snapped a picture, what appears to be a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) Suzuki Alto, without a single piece of camouflage with HR26 (Gurgaon) registration at Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road. Earlier there were lots of rumours across the internet that JDM Alto from Suzuki will arrive in India some while ago.
Finally Maruti Suzuki India has decided to enter the sub-800cc segment. Two cars in this segment, already in operation in Japan, will be unveiled during the Delhi Auto Expo in January, to gauge viewers’ response. Currently Maruti Suzuki is working on M800, to fight the tough competition from Hyundai Eon and now plans to enter the sub-800 cc category.
Orelse what is JDM Suzuki Alto hatch doing in the streets of India? BHPian say I have no clue whether this is a random import by an individual or an import for test (presumably given to an MSIL employee for use). The JDM Suzuki Alto in India resides in a Tata Nano segment, which means that launching the car could help Maruti to put forward a product which could compete with the like of the Eon.
Latest development at Suzuki Japan has just launched a very fuel efficient version of the car christened as the Alto Eco, its frugal engine that delivers a very impressive 32 km/l of mileage. The 660 cc heart produces a max power of 52 BHP @ 6000 RPM and peak torque of 63 Nm @ 4000 RPM.
Tata Nano sales have not been impressive, as the company expected. So will Suzuki Alto 660cc create some nightmare for Tata Nano. What you say?
