Hyundai i20 is ready with a new facelift which might be launching in January 2012. Again, another IndianAutosBlog reader named Vikram Viswanathan spotted the new i20 at the Korean company’s manufacturing plant near Chennai with the heavy camouflage, but the new headlights are quite visible. It can be an indication that the Korean Auto maker is preparing to launch it during the upcoming Auto expo in January 2011.
The auto major wants to pull the wraps off this new facelifted model of the Hyundai I20 at the Auto Expo because this is the perfect platform a new launch or facelift. The other reason is that the Hyundai has not come up with any modification to this model since its launch three years ago. The Hyundai I20 price is expected to be higher than the existing model though there is no official statement in this regards.
Everyone knows the exterior of the new i20 will follow Hyundai’s fluidic design sculpture with fully modified headlamps, grille and the fog lamps. We can estimate that the Hyundai has completed a thorough revision on the front and rear with this facelift model but there is still no information regarding the technical aspects of these models.
This is a mere speculation as there has been no official information from Hyundai motors about this new Hyundai I20. Currently this is the first model of the company that has came with diesel engine and that may be the most positive point with this model because it will not have to do any work on this front. Hyundai i20 is equipped with 1.4 L CRDI Diesel engine along with new 6 speed manual transmission gearbox. The DOHC Valve configuration and CRDI fuel supply system performs excellently and produces a maximum power of 90 PS at 4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 22.4kgm at 1750 rpm.
