As we told earlier Force Motors may launch Mercedes Viano based MPV. Now Mercedes Viano spotted in India with literally no camouflage but badges taped. Readers who are not familiar about this news, let me tell you that Force is going to plant an assembly line for a new MPV. The same will be based on the Mercedes Viano, a popular car in International markets. It is expected to hit Indian shores at the Auto Expo 2012.
The company aims at delivering a Viano derived MPV at a much lesser price to the Indian customers, eventually bringing the brand into the limelight. For this the company, before the launch of Force One, had also signed a deal with Mercedes-Benz for procurement of engines and Viano’s platform.
Force Motors will definitely be taking good care of the overall build quality and fit and finish of the vehicle. The Viano looks pretty decent for a van and offers loads and loads of space inside to make the owners feel at home. India will be getting the 8-seater version with ample store house for luggage making it a very favourite among family owners.
It will be powered by the same 2.2L engine sourced from Mercedes that currently powers the Force One. Since the latter has announced of providing the Viano, which comes around Rs.60 Lakh, at a much lesser price, probably between Rs. 12 – 15 Lakh.
This means that a lot of hard work and localization is needed in order to bring down the price of this car to the aimed value.
