Earlier there week we brought you the firstever spy pictures of Chevrolet Sail in Indian soil. Now it was caught testing again, thanks to AutocarIndia for the spyshots of Chevrolet’s upcoming Sail hatchback that will replace the Aveo U-VA in the Indian market.
From the images car hints it will hit the Indian shores soon as it is being tested with minimal cover. This small car has the wind in Chevrolet’s sales (pun intended)!. The Sail will be launched before the saloon, it was developed in China by SAIC-GM China and the Sail is a global model especially for the emerging markets.
GM will most likely share the Beat’s 1.2-litre petrol engine, churning out 79bhp and 10.91kgm of torque, and will also get the 1.3-litre Fiat MultiJet engine within a year of its launch. The engine will be mated to a five speed manual transmission; no automatic variants are expected when the car gets launched in early 2012.
Expect the car to make its India debut at the 2012 Auto Expo. Costs will be kept low, thanks to the car sharing many components with the saloon. A sub-Rs 4-lakh base price should make it a very enticing option.
