Thanks to Team-BHP member AmarPaithankar for clear spyshots of Volkswagen Jetta 2012 without a single piece of camouflage which he found on a trip to Lavasa hill station, located near Pune. Along with the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta , other Skoda’s undergoing real world testing on the twisties was also spotted.
Volkswagen family on road tests in hilly terrain consisted of VW’s new Passat, the regular Skoda Superb with its badges masked & a Yeti also with its badges masked .Apart from that he caught the attention instantly to the all new Jetta with a 2 litre diesel engine and a Vento sedan with a 1.4 litre petrol power plant.
As is the trend now-a-days for that “family look”, the Jetta looks similar to the 1.6 litre Vento from the front but with noticeably larger dimensions. The rear is butch looking and imparts a solid feel. Even the wheel sizes are noticeable bigger than the Vento.
The new Volkswagen Passat with BlueMotion has already been launched and Jetta is planned for second half of 2011, which means anytime during the festive season of Dasara to gain maximum attention. We expect to see a August or September 2011 launch as the road tests have already started. Jetta will be priced in a segment of luxury sedans in the budget of close to Rs. 14 Lakhs. The Jetta 2012 seems to be well built with a good exterior styling. The Jetta 2012 has already been launched in US and some other countries.
The Indian variant of the Jetta will be customized as per Indian market needs and details will be announced officially around the launch of the car. The car features a 2.0 Litre TDI – turbo charged CRDI Diesel engine with 138 horse power and 320 Nm or torque to keep this car running smooth and easy. We guess VW will launch the diesel variant first and follow it up with petrol.
An optional DSG Gearbox is also expected with BlueMotion technology. The Jetta 2011 for Europe and USA has different variants and the India variants will also be different and designed for India. More details will emerge soon as the launch is approaching.
