After the enormous success of Duster, Renault is now preparing to introduce two new cars into the Indian market which would include a compact MPV and an entry level small car in the second half of 2015. With these launches, Renault is aiming to increase its market share by 5 percent in the next 2 years.
As per the reports obtained earlier, Renault’s entry level small car would be based on versatile CMF-A platform resembling Volkswagen Group’s MQB architecture but would vary in size, style and body line up. The small car codenamed XBA is expected to compete the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Datsun Go, Chevrolet Beat and other cars in this segment in the Indian market.
Renault’s Executive Vice-President and head of sales reported that “the XBA will feature attractive design and good usability”. Coming to the technical specifications, XBA will get a new 1.0-litre petrol engine which is still in the development stage. For now much more details regarding the technical specifications is not yet available.
