More info on the soon-to-be-launched Renault Kwid Climber in the coming weeks is out, some leaked pages of the product brochure for the production-spec Kwid Climber have come about, courtesy of AutosArena.
The Kwid Climber was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo is concept form. Now the leaked image reveals the rugged hatchback in production avatar. Featuring an exclusive electric blue exterior paint-scheme, it gets orange inserts on ORVM caps, bumper accents and roof rails. The most important add-on, however, is the alloy wheels which are being offered in the Kwid line-up for the first time.
Furthermore, the front bumper has been slightly redesigned and sports large plastic bits around the fog lamp housing and a faux matte-silver skid plate to complete that rugged look. On the side profile, the Kwid Climber has a thicker black plastic cladding across the doors and a Climber badge on the front door. At the back, it is likely to feature a silver bumper garnish similar to the front bumper.
Inside, the Kwid Climber will retain the layout as seen on the regular model save for a few orange inserts. These orange inserts can be seen around the gloss black centre console, gear knob, door cards and seat bolsters. The front seats get a new fabric design with orange accents and prominent ‘Climber’ brand name stitched on to the seat headrests.
Powertrain details remain scarce although Renault is likely to launch the Kwid Climber with the 1.0-litre petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. It remains unclear whether Renault will offer the Kwid Climber with an AMT gearbox. Expect the Kwid Climber to cost Rs 35,000-45,000 more than the top-spec Kwid 1.0 manual variant.
