French car manufacturer, Renault has been quite successful in the Indian market with the recent launch of Renault Duster compact SUV. The company has at least one car in every segment but the MPV segment is still open to Renault now. So in order fulfill the gap Renault plans to launch its own version of the Dacia Lodgy at the 2014 New Delhi Auto Expo.

The Dacia Lodgy made its world debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, before going on-sale in Europe. The Lodgy is a 7-seater, front-wheel-drive that sits on a modified version of the chassis used in the Renault Duster and Logan. The Lodgy MPV will have the guts and looks to even beat out Ertiga. However, it will be the Lodgy price and the features that will decided whether it will be able to have strong footing in India or it will also succumb to its fate.

Based on the Logan platform, the car will have the same trusted maneuverability that people of India have seen on present Mahindra Verito and the Renault Duster. The seven-seater Lodgy will also be a rival to Nissan Evlia and the upcoming Chevrolet Enjoy and it is expected that since the brand is settling fast, the new Renault car will have no problem in terms of acceptance.

Under the bonnet, the upcoming MPV will have powerful 1.5-litre K9K turbo diesel engine that is already tried and test in other prominent cars like Nissan Micra, Nissan Sunny, Nissan Evalia, Renault Duster, Renault Pulse, Renault Scala, Renault Fluence and Mahindra Verito. So we can safely assume the Lodgy’s Indian counterpart to come with similar spec as in the case of the Duster.
