Renault Duster to launch a turbocharged variant, this-month

News has come that Renault are planning to launch a new turbocharged variant of the Duster to the Indian market. It is being said that the Duster Turbo will be launching here towards the second half of this month. While there has been no official date revealed for it, Renault may seem likely to go about their business silently by introducing it.

The Duster Turbo was first unveiled here during the 2020 Auto Expo, where Renault expressed their plans of launching the car soon. When launched, the major talking point of the Duster will be the new 1.3 litre turbocharged petrol engine under its hood. This engine produces 156 BHP of power along with 250 Nm of torque.

These numbers put the Duster on par with its rivals having similar numbers. In fact, this will also eliminate the thought of the Duster being underpowered as compared to its rivals. This is because the current 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol motor makes only 106 BHP of power and 142 Nm of torque.

As per reports, the current 1.5 litre diesel engine seen on the car will be phased out soon by Renault owing to less demand for diesel vehicles. The Duster Turbo will be offered with options of either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed CVT transmission. On design, the car will receive a few additional features as well as cosmetic upgrades outside.

There will be the inclusion of features such as a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, idle engine start stop and a handy remote for cabin cooling. On the outside, the Duster Turbo will have styling bits such as revised 17 inch alloy wheels along with red accents on the front grille and tailgate. With the new turbocharged engine, we can expect the Duster to pose a serious threat in its segment.

The Duster Turbo will be coming at a bit more as compared to the top spec variants of the car. But it will be priced similar to cars such as the Nissan Kicks, Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. Renault will be hoping that the Duster Turbo does live up to its potential of being amongst the most powerful car in its segment by achieving better sales as compared to what is seen currently.
